Use of Dare or Dare to Sentences Examples
Hello friends, today in this post you will read about the use of dare. This is generally known as Marginal Auxiliary verb. Its hindi meaning is "दुस्साहस करना, हिम्मत करना, चुनौती देना". Use of dare as Marginal Auxiliary Verb
When dare not or daren't is used as Marginal Auxiliary verb to express the sense of negative then dare is always used in plural form.
Examples :
- I dare not go out this time. (मेरी इस बार बाहर जने कि हिम्मत नही है ।). (Correct)
- He dare not argue with me. (उसमें मुझसे बात करने की हिम्मत नहीं है |) ( (Correct)
- He dare not oppose me. (उसमें मेरा विरोध करने की हिम्मत नहीं है |). (Correct)
- She dares not to tell a lie. (Incorrect)
In the sentences given above first three sentences are correct and fourth sentence is incorrect. When dare not or daren't is used in any sentence as Marginal Auxiliary verb then after that infinitive 'to' is not used. That's why fourth sentence is incorrect.
1. What is dare to sentences examples?
Along with 'Used to' and 'Need' there is also 'Dare' a marginal auxiliary verb. Dare means 'to be courageous enough to do something or to have the impudence'. It is used in a sentence both as in singular and plural forms.
Examples :
- He dares to stand before Principal. (उन्होंने प्रिंसिपल के सामने खड़े होने की हिम्मत की |)
- I dare to oppose his father. (मैं उसके पिता के विरोध करने की हिम्मत करता हूँ |)
- They dare to say something about the theft. (वे चोरी के बारे में कुछ कहने की हिम्मत करता है |)
- My friend dare to fight against thieves. (मेरे दोस्त ने चोरी से लड़ने की हिम्मत की |)
2. Use of dare as Past Tense & Past Participle Tense
Dare is used as Main Verb in the sentence in the form of Past Tense and Past Participle.
Examples :
- He dared to call him a lazy man. (उसने उसे आलसी आदमी कहने की हिम्मत की |)
- They dared to strike on his back. (उन्होंने उसकी पीठ पर प्रहार करने का साहस किया |)
- She dared to fight against corruption. (उन्होंने भ्रष्टाचार के खिलाफ लड़ने की हिम्मत की |)
- Hardly, I dared to escape from jail. (मुश्किल से, मैंने जेल से भागने की हिम्मत की |)
3. Use of dare as Challenge
When 'Dare' consists the meaning of 'challenge' then object is used after dare and also infinitive with to is used after the object.
Examples :
- He dared me to win the race. (उसने मुझे रेस जीतने की चुनौती दी |)
- They dared me to get success. (उनसे मुझे सफलता पाने की चुनौती दी |)
- She dared him to earn much money. (उसने उसे बहुत पैसे कमाने की चुनौती दी |)
- My friend dared me to get first position in the class. (मेरे दोस्त ने मुझे कक्षा में प्रथम स्थान प्राप्त करने की चुनौती दी |)
Use of dare to sentences examples as Main Verb
When dare is used as main verb in any of the sentences then after that infinitive with 'to' must be used.
Examples :
- He does not dare to oppose teachers. (वह शिक्षकों का विरोध करने की हिम्मत नहीं करता है |)(Correct)
- he does not dare oppose teachers. (Incorrect)
- They do not dare to tell a lie. (वे लोग झूठ बोलने की हिम्मत नहीं करते है |) (Correct)
- They do not dare tell a lie. (Incorrect)
1. Use of dare as Negative sentence
When dare is used in negative sentence as to express the sense of negation, the structure is as below.
Examples :
Use of used to and need
- I do not dare to go out. (मेरी बाहर जाने की हिम्मत नहीं है |)
- he does not dare to oppose me. (वह मेरा विरोध करने की हिम्मत नहीं करता |)
- They do not dare to play with me. (वे मेरे साथ खेलने की हिम्मत नहीं करते |)
- She doesn't dare to go there. (उसकी वहाँ जाने की हिम्मत नहीं होती |)
2. Use of dare as Interrogative Sentence
When dare is used in Interrogative Sentence to ask the questions, the structure is as below.
Examples :
- Does she dare to go out alone ? (क्या वह अकेले बाहर जाने हिमत करती है ?)
- Do I dare to oppose corruption ? (क्या मुझमे भ्रष्टाचार का विरोध करने की हिम्मत है ?)
- Did they dare to walk with me ? (क्या उन्होंने मेरे साथ चलने की हिम्मत की ?)
- Did you dare to save him ? (क्या तुमने उसे बचाने की हिम्मत की ?)
